Your Maternity Session

 You're having a baby!! Congrats! Whether this is your first or fifth, it is no doubt an exciting time!  

 Maternity portraits are a fabulous way to capture your changing body as you await the arrival of the new addition to your family. As a momma to two little girls, I know just how quickly this phase of life goes by. It is so important to document these special moments!

 Pregnancy is a special time of your life and for many women, (although you may not feel like it) you are at your most natural, feminine and beautiful self. During your pregnancy, your hair is rich and thicker, your breasts are fuller, your skin is glowing and your body has more curves. For many expecting mothers, there’s no better way to remember their pregnancy and chronicle their journey to motherhood than a professional maternity photo shoot. Here are a few tips to help you look and feel your best in your maternity photo shoot.

 

WHEN TO SCHEDULE YOUR SESSION

The ideal time for a maternity session is between 29-34 weeks. You want to be pregnant enough that your belly is prominent but not so pregnant that you’re swollen and uncomfortable. 

If you farther along than 34 weeks - that is ok, too. Sometimes we don't think about maternity portraits until we are nearing the end of our pregnancy. Not a problem. If you have a baby bump, we can have a maternity session!

LOCATION

I recommend planning your maternity session at an outdoor location you love. As long as weather permits, outdoor locations offer beautiful light and backgrounds. We can also use my backyard with consists of lots of greenery and trees. Then we can do some indoors in the studio to mix it up a bit.

And, they can be places that are meaningful to you, such as your own home. The shots at home are where you can bare your belly comfortably – usually where there is lovely light through a window or door. 

MY GOAL

My sessions are fun and relaxed. I will do my very best to choose poses and lighting that are flattering to your changing body. All of my photos are digitally refined to enhance your natural beauty. My goal is to make you feel and look as radiant and beautiful as possible!

 

 

WHAT TO WEAR

Wear whatever you feel comfortable and pretty in.

  • Neutral strapless bra and seamless underwear

  • Black bra and panty set (for those black background belly shots)

  • White/ivory bra and panty set (for those white background belly shots)

  • Lingerie sets

  • Tube top or belly band

  • Regular jeans (not maternity ones) and camisole top

  • Buttoned shirt or blouse

  • Long, flowy or form-fitting dress (e.g. tube dress or a summer maxi dress)

  • Button ups sweater or cardigans

  • Men’s button ups top (for significant other/husband)

  • Coordinating outfits (for significant other/husband and/or children)

  • Any favorite scarves, accessories, jewelries, etc.

  • Any sentimental items (e.g. baby ultrasound image)

 

 

A great maternity photography session will not just produce stunning and gorgeous images, but also make you feel confident and beautiful.
